Ira Estin-Photography

Ira has lived in the Yosemite area  for much of the last thirty years.   I work as a nature photographer, portrait photographer, and as a Yosemite tour guide.   all of these lines of work allow me to explore much of the beauty of the park, which I try to capture  with my camera.  I make all of my own prints with archival materials.  I have lots of new prints including Mono Lake, and fall colors from the east side.   Scenics, frogs, dragonflies and ladybugs galore.   Come visit me and my new moose hat. 

Christine and Mark Radanovich-Wool and Mixed Media Artwork

Blessed to live in the Sierra Nevada mountains, Mark and Christine are shepherds to a flock of California Red and Romney sheep.  Each spring they allow us to gather their fiber; the tactile experience of working with wool feels so right...so basic...so primitive...like the feeling each spring we get to plant a garden.  Nature is so unbelievably grand; inspiration comes from everywhere.  Besides the wool, Christine likes to create in all mediums: sewing, knitting, crocheting-any fiber is fair game!  Mark has drawn and painted since he was a wee little lad.  Helen Cleary took Mark on drawing expeditions to Mariposa Creek when he was a little boy and his great-grandma Viola Johnsons' landscapes were a source of inspiration.

Treyaluz Handmade Notecards

I live along the Merced River adjacent to Yosemite National Park. The fluid movement of water enhancing my immediate environment encourages the freedom of creativity inherent in my notecard designs.  

I create my notecards individually through a process of hand carving a design onto a block, painting the block, and then pressing that painted image onto colored paper.  By repeating the painting and block printing process, I develop the layered effect of brightly colored pearlescent and translucent images.  After the painting process, I assemble my cards using a technique of perforating a design on the card, which adds a textured dimension to the final product.  I enjoy the role of observer as each card takes on an artistic life of it’s own.

Ann and Ralph Mendershausen-Potters

We have been playing with clay for a long time.  In Ann's case the fun goes back over 50 years.  Clay is a wonderful and forgiving medium with milennia of functional and spiritual uses.  We enjoy being part of the great continuum and the joyous consortium of potters.  It's fun to play in the dirt.

Penny Otwell-Painter

Penny Otwell paints primarily in oil, but also acrylic and watercolor.  Her distinct style is popular in the Yosemite-Mariposa area and she shows in several galleries here.  The artist will have everything from note cards, photographic reproductions (these make great gifts), and small to large paintings for ART ON THE RIVER 2011. Come, meet Otwell, see her work in person, think about gifts for friends and family, while celebrating and supporting the arts in Mariposa County.  This will be a festive event with a fun group of artists!

Alison Grove, Painter

Alison paints primarily with watercolors and generally uses Yosemite and the area around it as her subject. She has colored since she could walk and she's still doing it!  She's lived in the Park since 1985 with her spousal equivalent, Gary and can't imagine any other playground at this point in her life.
